On taking early retirement we bought a holiday home in the 'Pas de Calais' region of Northern France. After a while we discovered the 'Somme' and spent many years travelling, exploring and researching where our relatives fought in the Great War.
We moved to Longueval in 2000 having bought the land, (which incidentally sits on the German defensive position of 1916), and had Trones View built to our own specifications. We have since furnished the house with a cornucopia of interesting collectables and Great War memorabilia.
Since building the house, we have had so many visitors form the UK that we decided to open as a 'Bed & Breakfast'.
We are five minutes walking distance to Longueval's village square with its two bars/cafes, Calypso I and Calypso II. Calypso I serves excellent French cooking at reasonable prices.
Battlefield tours, guided visits and tailor-made tours can be arranged and planned to your specification.
We look forward to welcoming you and are sure you will enjoy your stay with us.
Peter and Sarah Wright.
